Gigi Crafts

Went on cross stitch pillow binge recently! After using a border like this pattern on another one (photos to follow!), I made this for myself.  It’s not technically cross stitch, and I’m not sure it technically falls under blackwork. I like it a lot and it goes well with my sheets!

Edit: It’s also stuffed with some lavender from my mother’s garden!

Made this for my friend Charlotte’s birthday! It’s the first cross stitch I designed myself. I used Excel, which worked surprisingly well. I completely hand stitched it and got to work on some new stitches for sewing the back and front together. I’m hoping to learn more embroidery soon!

Made these for my companion cube cosplay at NYCC! I’m not very good at drawing, but these turned out pretty well. I also used up like three silver sharpies coloring them in. The pencil outlines on the heard also eventually washed out. I posted this on my personal blog at the time, and completely forgot to post them here!

Some origami Platonic solids! Also my first use of tant paper, which I really like, both in texture and color options. I also really liked 5-coloring them. When I feel inspired, I think I’ll make the others.

Here’s some chainmaille jewelry I made a while ago. I made the earrings (and a matching bracelet) for my mom for Christmas a year ago, and the necklace for myself last spring. It was my first experience with niobium rings, which are gorgeous! It was also my first go with Jens Pind Linkage, which I also really like. The necklace took a really long time, although I was working off and on at school. I did the whole chain in one piece, and it was about five feet long!

Yes, I am still alive.

Hello all! I have several posts that will be up soon. I’m planning to stagger them a bit, so it won’t be a flood. I have an origami commission at the moment, which is fun. I also will have an exciting (at least for me) announcement soon.

Commissions

Hello all!

I am, as of now, accepting commissions to make things. This includes almost any item on this blog and I can discuss with you other custom pieces.

I graduated college this past spring and am still seeking gainful employment. I might soon make an Etsy shop. Well, I have created the shop, but there isn’t anything in there at the moment.

If you are interested, please email me at weaves.and.folds@gmail.com

Thanks for your support and I hope you continue to enjoy my blog of crafting ventures!

Cheers!

Gigi

Tried woodcarving for the first time! I’ve been going to the Wendell Gilley Museum, a museum for wooden bird carving, for ages but this is the first time I’ve ever had a lesson. Still need to work more, but my puffin is coming along well.
The Gilley Museum is in Southwest Harbor, Maine and is a great place for rainy days if you’re on Mount Desert. You can buy a kit there, complete with paints and eyes, which comes with a free lesson with the resident carver. (My mother would disinherit me if I didn’t take the chance to plug the museum.)

Got back into cross stitching! Made a TARDIS bookmark for a friend… then another… and now I’m working on the third.

Been working on some origami tessellations! I might get pictures of these backlit when I get back to them.
